Import Terrain

Terrain models play an essential role in the planning and design phases. They help engineers to improve their project’s precision and reduce costs.

Below is a brief guide on how to access terrain data using Plex-Earth 5.

Import Terrain

After georeferencing your drawing, go to the Plex-Earth 5 ribbon and choose the "Import Terrain" command, as shown below:

Then you will be asked to identify the area of the terrain you want to import. You can fo it by specifying an area into your drawing or by selecting an existing polyline.

Click on the magnifying glass button to force CAD to zoom into the respective terrain. You can click on the "T" button to choose to rename the specific terrain object.

You can click on the "New Terrain" button to import a new terrain object into your drawing.

You can choose the "Generate Drawing Objects" to create extra objects from your terrain. You can choose from the list below:

  • Contours
  • TIN Mesh
  • Polyface Mesh
  • Point Objects
  • Civil 3D Surface (only for Civil 3D)

Keep in mind that you can delete your terrain objects from your drawing space but you can re-create them from the "Generate Drawing Objects" command as long as your terrain objects are in the imagery manager.

You can choose the "Remove" icon to completely delete a terrain object from your drawing.

You can click the "x" button to close the Terrain Manager window.
